Not Getting the Best Rates
I am in my sixties, but own an Escort XR3i car. When my fully comprehensive insurance was due for renewal, I found the premiums had risen from $458 to $858, so I queried this with my broker, the Automobile Association, which advertises that it finds the most competitive cheap car insurance quotes.
It could find nothing better, so I opted for third party, fire and theft at $476. Then I was contacted by Alliance & Leicester about insurance, so I asked them to see what they could do. Within days I received a proposal from Landmark Insurance offering fully comprehensive cover for $309. I asked AA Insurance to investigate, and it seems Landmark is on the AA’s list of favoured insurers, but only for overseas policies.
You will probably be further depressed to learn that the $858 premium quoted by the AA was actually the fifth most competitive available. Four cheaper quotes were ignored.
It's Cheap So I Can Spend Money Elsewhere
I am always looking to save money on these things that are necessary, but not really something that I would choose to pay for. I don’t think that a lot of people would have car insurance if they do not have to have it. I think that they would rather spend that chunk of money elsewhere. It is true! I know that cheap auto insurance helps lessen the pain of having to pay for auto insurance though. I think that it just makes sense to pay the least that I can for something that I never want to pay for. It is not as if I do not realize the benefits, but when you are forced to pay for something all the time, you feel jaded by it. It is like taxes. I feel good when I know that I can actually put my money to good use. I try to pay less for car insurance all the time.
